PGPM HR refers to the SOIL full-time one-year Post-Graduate Program in Management in Human Resources.
If one aims to be an HR leader with a Global Perspective, then one should pursue SOIL HR Program. The following candidate is an ideal PGPM HR candidate.
The program duration is 12 months. The program has been designed for candidates to return to their working career faster.
The one-year duration is a very common format abroad. Because the program accepts candidates with prior work experience, the college expects a certain level of understanding of the business from them. The program is very intensive due to the fact that students learn an almost similar number of subjects as compare to a 2 year PGDM.
The program enables candidates to get back to their careers faster.
A one-year PGPM is more suited for aspirants with pre-MBA work experience. A one-year program lets you get back to work within a year, and in the second year, you work, earn, and gain valuable post-MBA experience.
A simple ROI calculation is shown below,
One-year course fee – 12 Lakhs/year
Two-year course fee – 7.5 Lakhs/year
Candidate earns – 3.5 Lakhs/Year before joining.
Candidate earns – 9 Lakhs/Year immediately after PGPM with 10% increase YOY
Total Gain/Loss for the first 3 years = (opportunity cost – Expense + Salary Income)
For PGPM
Total Gain/Loss would be (-3.5 – 11 +9 + 9.9) = 3.4 Lakhs
For PGDM
Total Gain/Loss would be (-4 -7.5 – 7.5 +9) = -10 Lakhs
We can clearly see why a 1-year MBA has a better ROI than a 2-year MBA, as illustrated by the above example.
Further, one is likely to find a more experienced and mature peer group in a one-year program.
Given that the duration of the program is compressed into one year, the PGPM is demanding and intense, with limited off days and no significant breaks throughout the year.
Having said this, the program is specifically designed for professionals leveraging their experience, and one can cope with the rigour of PGPM with some discipline and hard work.
