    • What Do The Modern Organizations Need?
    • SOIL – A Radical Step Towards Change!

For a long time, MBA programs maintained a good reputation in academics and were highly regarded in the business world. The admissions became more competitive, and the salaries of graduates were impressive. However, today, MBA programs are facing criticism from various sources.

The main culprit is a less-than-relevant MBA curriculum, and many seem to agree with this charge. We believe that is because the curriculum is the effect, not the cause, of what ails the modern business school. But genuine reform of the MBA curriculum remains elusive..
~ Henry Mintzberg, a professor at McGill University, is a strong critic.

MBA graduates often face challenges in coping with the contemporary demands of organizations. Business is now global, so knowing about supply chains, trade agreements, and working well with diverse teams is crucial. According to Oxford Economics, while B-school graduates may have theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and essential soft skills like communicating well, thinking fast, time management, crisis management, and change management are often lacking. These skills are becoming increasingly crucial in the modern business landscape.

What Kind Of Professionals Does The Modern Business Need?

Top industry leaders talk about what the modern organization of today needs.

Being able to attract, recruit, and retain talented people with values and character, is one of the biggest challenges in organizations today..
    ~ T.V. Rao
Founder President of the National HRD Network

There are two disciplines that are necessary to be learned by everybody – Thinking of the whole system (Systems Thinking), and the other is learning to listen effectively..
    ~ Arun Maira
    India chairman, Boston Consulting Group,
Former Member, Planning Commission of India

The professionals should be able to study the past, extrapolate the future trends, and manage the present..
    ~ Anjali Raina
    Executive Director, Harvard Business School

Foresightedness – Professionals who can think ahead of their bosses and seniors..
    ~ T.V. Rao
Founder President of the National HRD Network

What we require are people who can fundamentally change things. Professionals who can transform organizations. Take care of environmental responsibility, and social responsibility, have a passion for performing, are hungry for high performance, and help people develop new skills and qualities – These traits are not taught in conventional classrooms, however, these are foundational traits that are extremely crucial to ensure that the functional traits are maximized..
    ~ B Muthuraman
Former Vice Chairman of Tata Steel
Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Kharagpur

The workforce of today needs leaders with a global perspective, at the same time, they must also understand the local context. So, we need professionals who can understand the macro, and manage the micro..
    ~ Anjali Raina
    Executive Director, Harvard Business School

Given this, it’s important for management education to make some changes to stay relevant in the next decade.

SOIL Institute Of Management, A Radical Step Towards Change

Given the above context, the leaders dreamt about creating a new skill to work on the legacy that had already been established by the SOIL Institute of Management. In the new school, an exclusive focus was placed on business design, a combination of the study of business and the study of design. This was one of the first attempts anywhere in the world to combine the best of business with the best of design in a two-year program.

Obviously, this couldn’t be achieved alone, hence, collaborations were formed with like-minded corporations, organizations, and governments. Outstanding minds from all over the world collaborated to come together to work on this most critical work of their times. People in education, both from the field of design and management education come together in co-creating the new curriculum, the new pedagogy, and the new story that began to unfold itself in Gurgaon. This was meant to create something amazing that truly made a difference!

    An Institution Built By Leaders

SOIL’s vision to transform management education is guided by a community of academicians, business leaders, and entrepreneurs from across the globe.
