Why joining SOIL was the best decision I took

In 2020, around June, when I was studying for what I hoped to be my final time taking the entrance exams. I became overwhelmed after reading blogs about the application process for a few B-schools in which I was interested; I knew I’d need assistance but didn’t know where to start. I went to a webinar hosted by SOIL Institute of Management where SOIL alumni were engaging with us and answering all kinds of questions we had. It was a very genuine interaction and I felt more empowered and prepared to make such a big decision for myself.

I feel that SOIL is one of the country’s finest management institutes, and that is why it was only logical that it has the best faculty. What better reason to enrol in an MBA programme than to learn from some of the most well-known experts in the field? Students learn a lot from professors since at SOIL, they focus not only on classroom learning, but push and motivate us to think out of the box and understand varied perspectives through interventions like case study methodology, design thinking, whole systems thinking and more. Usually, faculty at SOIL are ablet to demonstrate how knowledgeable they are in their respective fields of expertise by engaging with students in multi-faceted ways.

The most compelling reason for me to choose SOIL was its history of creating global HR leaders and the strong HR legacy it holds. Because students are exposed to such high-quality education, it’s no surprise that top companies are continually looking to hire us.

Considering the quality of the curriculum, and its industry relevance and combining it with stringent admission procedures, it is only natural for some of the brightest students to get into SOIL. This is a major benefit of studying at SOIL for me.

Every day is dynamic with a lot of interaction, learning and engagement. Industry leaders are often invited to be student mentors and under the SOIL Mentorship program guide students towards a path of success.

SOIL is known to have some of the best events and competitions on campus. These include Inspired Leadership Conference (ILC), Conversation that Count (CTC), Social Innovation Program (SIP), Cultural Exchange Program, Sporting Events and more. The opportunity to participate in these events is in itself a learning that I can boast of. In planning, organising and running many of these events I learnt how to hold a leadership position, how to manage crisis situations and how to give creative solutions to any kind of problems that might arise.

Every student at SOIL is a leader, and every student is given the opportunity to lead. In addition to being the Head of Cultural Team, I am a member of the Student Council as well. SOIL was the ideal choice in improving my career journey since it enables students to make choices and manage a team of members working together to achieve meaningful goals.
