“I was born in the darkest ignorance, and my guru, my spiritual master, opened my eyes with the torch of knowledge. I offer my respectful obeisance’s unto him.” – Srimad Bhagavad Gita.

He entered with his full gracein the calm SOIL auditorium, following very powerful stepsand we felt overwhelmed in his presence. His structured way of thinking, tranquility of mind, delivering speech in a verypositive manner and stressing each and every word with a stern but peaceful way, made all of us in the classroom enlightened. This was how our journey of one and half hours with Swami Chidrupananda began on 30th June, 2014.

Do we really need someone to guide us always? Are we self sufficient after we are grown up?
Human nature always seeks support, guidance from a more powerful source; be it our parents, friends or teacher or mentor. If we are stuck in a situation and need someone to really guide us to overcome that particular hurdle, we need our ‘Guru’, who is our friend, philosopher and guide for every step in our life.

We, the future “inspired leaders”, need to be expert in our leadership traits. Who is going to guide us in the right direction? Leadership is a trait; by birth or learnt. Guru is the light of our way; they dispel the darkness and ignorance from our heart by empowering us. It is a vice versa way of the leading the cosmos with an unlimited universal intelligence. Leaders possess the universal storehouse of the intelligence and empowerment and show others the way. The specialties of the spiritual gurus are that they have a different objective of mentoring and guiding the follower. An ordinary guru can be the one who teaches us any normal subject and provides day to day life queries about our daily problems. Whereas, the spiritual gurus play a vital role in our life by empowering our entire thought process and overall personality. Our main source of power comes from our body, mind and intellect; these factors may be called as spiritual dimensions of ourselves; the arena of our life. Does anyone have all three factors present in action? That is a vague idea. A normal person can have only two traits conscious in the action. Moreover, our memory never depicts our intelligence, it’s just a way of showing how effectively we can enlighten our intellect with a full presence of body and mind. Complete attention is required for utilizing our memory. Memory is just storage of the combination of all three factors and it stores all the action that we do perform. Ability to use our memory in right time, with a right pace is the intelligence. Spiritual guru helps us to align our thoughts and provides us the correct pavement.

The purpose of our life changes from time to time. We mark different targets without any stability and purpose of life. Very few of us know the goal of our lives, Isn’t it? What we need out of our spiritual gurus? First of all we need physical and mental stability, ability to move forward towards our goal, capability of surmount up, develop mind and intellect. There is a saying: be magnanimous, show humanity, live your life, set your goal, bring back the smile of a needy and your life will be enlightened with power. According to the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, “The power of God is with you at all times; through the activities of mind, senses, breathing and emotions; and it is constantly doing all the work using you as a mere instrument”. We need to remember three key steppings by Bhagwan Sri Krishna for the followers,

    • Surrender to your job, serve with selfless desire by long prostration
    • Be available for service
    • By means of questioning, learn to ask right questions at right time.

All the followers should always remember and pay heed to these three mantra s of life. But what the quality a Guru should possess? The quality of guru is as important as the quality of followers.

    • The Guru should have knowledge with a right attitude to teach.
    • Guru should have experience and should love to teach and enlighten the followers with his special teaching skills.

The followers should always remember to follow the way Guru showed them and do as Guru says rather than doing what Guru is doing as part of his life. Followers need to observe and learn continuously from each action of Guru. Guru s each action is a new learning for the followers. As I come back to my main point “Leadership Traits”. What is that it requires becoming a knowledgeable leader and gathering a keen eagerness to learn? It all lies in the devotion of how much Gurubhakti we show to our pathfinders. We need to transform ourselves to painless with a radiance glow in our face, radiance love reflecting in our deeds and a strong will of vision.

“He who has let go of hatred
who treats all beings with kindness
and compassion, who is always serene,
    unmoved by pain or pleasure,
free of the “I” and “mine,”
    self-controlled, firm and patient,
his whole mind focused on me,
that is the man I love best.”

Be Happy in the present, be different, be dazzling, be daring to be magnanimous.
