Putting classroom knowledge into practice: an MBA perspective

“Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.

You can get bookish knowledge from anywhere but a true leader should be able to distill classroom learning into real life application. In the business world, you’ll put the skills you’ve learned in school to work to analyze data, make important decisions, lead teams, and brainstorm and implement solutions.

The faculty at SOIL have helped me relate many classroom theories with the current happenings in the world of business. At SOIL, I have undergone a journey to enable us to become leaders and then with more experience, inspired leaders. Leadership experiential tracks involve activities where we explore inquiry, both inwards and outwards, learn about the community and become the best version of themselves physically and emotionally. The experiential programs are meant to develop leadership qualities in us and I have experienced a change in myself since I started this program.

The best part is we got to learn from various industry leaders with diverse skillsets and backgrounds. We were divided into teams and are assigned a faculty mentor who would guide us through the various real-life hands-on projects. We learnt how to handle each project from SOIL’s 5 pillars POV. We were encouraged to explore and solve problems in the same way we would if in a live business situation. The faculty is exceptional, they come with great industry experience, bringing in a practical as well as a very good hands-on approach to each topic which is what makes SOIL stand out!

The most important thing which I brought into practice is all that I learnt from my leadership and Business Design classes. Improving the basics in our life and questioning everything renews our perspective and it makes us grow stronger. I have one motive of life improvement which is “Stronger than Yesterday” and these basics which we got to learn in these classes help me advance and look at the world from a different and better perspective.

Everyone dreams of being an entrepreneur or CEO but nobody realizes the meaning of leading something. Understanding the responsibilities and applying everything which you learned in your classes will help you build a better future not only for yourself but also for the upcoming generation.”

As part of the Industry Experiential track at SOIL, students are presented with numerous opportunities to interact with corporate gurus and leaders and work on real-life projects throughout their program duration. This initiative goes #BeyondTheMBA and provides an ample amount of exposure for students to know and work with the Industry during their MBA period and provides a suitable platform to develop networks with the industry.
