Growing up in the close-knit town of Jaipur, Akshat Shukla developed a natural curiosity about understanding how things work. This passion led him to pursue Science in high school, where subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Math aligned with his aspirations to innovate in the field of technology. After completing his graduation in Electronics and Communication from AICE, Akshat embarked on a four-year journey as a Techno-Management Consultant at TELESOFT in Mumbai. This role not only deepened his technical expertise but also prepared him for the next significant step in his career—pursuing management education at SOIL Institute of Management. His dedication and exceptional performance at SOIL were evident when he bagged the highest pay package in the PGPM batch last year, a testament to his hard work and transformative journey.

What program did I pursue and why?

I chose to pursue a PGPM at SOIL with a major in Business Analytics and a minor in Marketing. Business Analytics resonated with my technological background, while Marketing appealed to my extroverted nature and creative side. Together, these disciplines offered the perfect blend of logic and creativity for my career aspirations.

Why did I choose SOIL over other B-schools in India?

SOIL stood out for its exceptional faculty, industry-aligned curriculum, and focus on experiential learning. The case study-based teaching and emphasis on design thinking prepared me to tackle real-world challenges. The corporate consortium provided unparalleled exposure to industry leaders, making SOIL the ideal choice for me.

How did my journey at SOIL impact me?

My time at SOIL was nothing short of transformative. From late-night project collaborations with friends to being part of the placement committee, every experience was a learning opportunity. One of the highlights was the Sidbari trip, which offered a peaceful and reflective escape. The NGO work as part of the SIP program added a meaningful dimension to my journey, instilling a deep sense of social responsibility.

SOIL also opened my mind to new possibilities through thought-provoking lectures. The experiential learning environment taught me invaluable people management skills, group dynamics, and emotional intelligence, all of which are critical in my professional and personal life today.

How has SOIL shaped who I am today?

SOIL has played a pivotal role in my journey. The focus on self-awareness, leadership, and experiential learning helped me develop empathy and a collaborative mindset. These skills are crucial in my current role, where managing teams and stakeholders requires adaptability and creative problem-solving. On a personal level, the leadership lessons have made me more resilient, self-aware, and capable of tackling challenges with confidence.

It was the sheer sense of fulfillment after a tough journey of relentless effort that made it truly special. Sharing this proud moment with my friends, who had been my constant support throughout college, and my family, whose unwavering belief in me never faltered, was the ultimate highlight. Their joy and pride made every struggle worthwhile.

I owe a huge part of this achievement to SOIL—the career support team, whose guidance was invaluable, and the world-class professors, whose wisdom and knowledge laid the foundation for my success. Without their support, I wouldn’t have been able to bag the highest pay package in my batch!

What am I doing now, and how do I plan to leverage my SOIL education?

I am currently working as an Associate Vice President (AVP) in Operations at CAMS (Computer Age Management Services Ltd). The skills I gained at SOIL, particularly in design thinking and problem-solving, continue to shape my career.

Coming from a family business background, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset. While I am deeply committed to my current role, I remain open to exploring entrepreneurial opportunities in the future. SOIL has equipped me with the tools and mindset to adapt and excel, no matter where my journey takes me.
