Sustainability And Business – Going Hand In Hand

The industry demands managers who prioritize business-centric innovation and sustainability, and the PGDM journey at SOIL prepares students for the demands of the workforce during the 4th Industrial Revolution (2020 and beyond). The 2-year PGDM program is one of the best MBA courses in demand, providing practical knowledge and real-time experience beyond the classroom. This is in line with SOIL’s focus on imparting practical knowledge to students.

Here is what SOIL does differently –

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Business Design & Innovation offered by the SOIL Institute of Management aims to meet the increasing demand for innovative business solutions and creative problem-solvers. The program offers specializations in Marketing, Analytics, Human Resources, and Finance, with an enhanced focus on Design Thinking & Innovation.

Looking To Up-Skill With A PGDM Program? Do It The SOIL Way

Design Thinking is a problem-solving approach that helps students to think differently. Its core emphasis is on adopting a human-centered approach to innovation, where understanding the people affected by the problem is prioritized over the solution itself.

By using visual thinking, creativity, and innovation, SOIL’s PGDM program trains students to –

    Unlearn Patterned Thinking

Human brains develop thinking patterns based on repetitive activities and familiar knowledge, enabling us to solve problems quickly. These patterns can hinder the exploration of new ways of thinking.

SOIL encourages its students to break out of traditional thought patterns and explore new solutions!

    Understand Human Needs

At the core of Design Thinking is the act of empathizing with the customer. This approach is centered around people, aiming to understand their pain points and improve their lives and experiences.

    Creating Sustainable Businesses

Design Thinking is a problem-solving approach that prioritizes understanding human needs. The process combines business and technological viability with a focus on meeting the needs of people.

Tech giants and manufacturers prioritize finding solutions over improving customer value. Design thinking offers a human-centered approach that helps find meaningful solutions to problems, putting the customer at the center of the process.

    Generate Ideas for Innovation

Design thinking is even more effective when students collaborate to solve problems. By bringing together students from different parts of the world with different knowledge and expertise, design thinking can lead to more creative solutions.

    Develop a fail-fast approach – Be Iterative

The core of “Design Thinking” is to prototype and test quickly. The entire process is geared towards taking action. The aim is to create prototypes rapidly, test them on real users, and iterate as needed. A “fast fail” mindset helps students avoid discouragement and encourages them to constantly explore alternative solutions.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, there’s more..

Those interested in Design Thinking might want to watch this case study by the SOIL Institute of Management and understand the intelligence behind these iconic brands’ success stories.

The PGDM program focuses on four key areas

    Business Expertise

Acquiring skills and knowledge in critical business areas such as Marketing, Finance, Operations, Analytics, Sales, and Human Resources.

    Design Thinking

Developing an effective problem-solving approach through action and embracing the fast-fail methodology to foster innovation.

Students are even required to participate in the Design Thinking Workshop as part of the admissions process.

The participants are divided into teams of 4 or 5; a real-life problem is given as a problem statement, and the participants find a solution embracing the 5-step process of –

    • Empathize – Teams indulge in a brainstorming exercise.
    • Define – Participants use their negotiation skills and leadership skills while identifying all the possible solutions.
    • Prototype – A divergent step where students often create more than two or three prototypes
    • Test – Similar to a critique round where anyone can raise a query to the presenting team.
    • Feedback – Students submit constructive feedback to the Admissions team and share their learnings and experiences.

SOIL is the only B-school that provides its candidates this experience, and is also highly appreciated by them. The purpose of this workshop is to identify students who excel in real-time working environments, rather than solely basing admissions decisions on academic performance and entrance exam scores.

    Liberal Arts

Gaining an understanding of human behavior, improving communication skills, and developing critical thinking while eliminating biases.

    Experiential Immersions

Engaging with humans, businesses, societies, and the environment in their natural setting, provides hands-on experience and helps in developing a well-rounded perspective.

The management program is designed and developed with the collaboration of India’s top leaders, to meet the current business and environmental demands of modern times.

The PGDM program focuses on four key areas

    Placement Highlights

SOIL’s Career Management Services, faculty, peers, and alumni network provide personalized support that enables PGDM candidates to advance in their current roles and companies or to switch their career paths altogether by transitioning into new sectors, functions, roles, and geographical locations.
