The vision of SOIL’s PGDM is to deliver a transformational program that enables students to work for “human-centred innovation” based on an interdisciplinary curriculum that combines liberal arts, design thinking and management education.

With the onset of the 21st century, and the rise in globalisation and technological advancements, boundaries between regions, countries and people have become non-existent. During these times, it is imperative for students to get an advanced understanding of humans and their behaviour across cultures.

The experiential immersions at SOIL have been designed for the students to get a deep understanding and a real-time exposure to people, business and environment.

Global Immersion

Experience the global business capitals through a two-week long international study tour in one of the leading business capitals of the world

Himalayan Retreat

Students undertake a trip to the scenic village of Sidhbari located on the outskirts of Dharamshala along the feet of the Himalayas. Student’s visit the near by Cord village to interact with the local communities and understand their political, economic & cultural aspects.

Social Outreach

SOIL has partnered with NCR-based non-profit organizations for our students to find meaningful projects which can give real value to the NGOs. Student’s contribute meaningfully by building business plans for income generation activity, developing case studies as marketing collateral, creating innovative fund-raising initiatives etc.

India Train Journey

This program aims at exposing the students to various cultures of India. A 10 day long trip, the initiative has a major focus on understanding various business capitals of our country and their historic relevance. Students would also learn about various business practices across different part of India

Innovation Festival

The culmination of the entire teaching-learning experience that a student undergoes during the 2 Year PGDM program. The fair will be an opportunity for the students to showcase their learnings, reflections, and their impact on the Manesar community.

Global Immersion

Business is the means for creating value, synergies and efficiencies around the world. Our students undergo a two-week-long international study trek in one of the leading business capitals of the world. This tour combines on-campus lectures, projects and assignments as well as experiential formats like workshops. This serves as an excellent opportunity to experience and understand these business capitals from close quarters.

You’ll learn firsthand from locals the culture, business practices and consumer perceptions and behaviours of these four nations that represent the largest economies of the world.

A global immersion trek generally consists of

1) On-Campus Sessions

2) Study Trek

On – Campus Sessions

Students attend regular classes at a foreign university. As part of the classroom activity, students would be required to be present for 5 classroom days involving themselves in Case Study Discussions, Lectures, and discuss about history. culture, political systems, economic policies etc.,

Students would be given clear instructions with information on business etiquette, language and cultural expectations. The college would also give sight seeing information and healthcare information before your travel

Study Treks

Students learn how global businesses are run and function. The key features as part of the study trek are

1) Corporate Firms
2) Government Institutions
3) Cultural Events

Students to attend events at all the 3 learning spots and immerse themselves to understand the cultural aspect of people behaviour, understand various business strategies used by companies and the regulatory policies towards people and companies.

Himalayan Rural Outreach

Students undertake a trip to the scenic village of Sidhbari located on the outskirts of Dharamshala along the feet of the Himalayas. Student’s visit the nearby Cord village to interact with the local communities and understand their political, economic & cultural aspects. Students form groups to present their ideas & solutions to improve the lives of the people around Cord.

Activities

The Himalayan Outreach Program will have the second year PGDM students undertaking a trip to the scenic village of Sidhbari located on the outskirts of Dharamshala along the feet of the Himalayas
The program kickstarts with an introductory lecture on Appreciative Learning. Students learn to appreciate their own distinctive strengths through an understanding of the self and through the perception of other people
A day-long visit to the Cord village has students interact with the local communities and understand their political, economic & cultural aspects
Adventure sports and other challenging activities will have students to test their thought process and the ability to work in teams

Indian Train Journey

As part of our unlearning process, the students will embark on a ‘Discover India Train Journey’ to discern diverse cultures, history and uncover the mystique of India in the true essence.

The two-week train journey involves

Visiting Culturally significant places across India
Short tours inside the city; mostly to the city museum, monuments and historical places
Students will be accompanied by a tour guide explaining the relevance of all the locations and the monuments.

Students at the end of their train journey will have a submit a Tour Learnings in the form of a document or as a presentation to the program office.

Annual Innovation Festival

The Innovation FAIR is the annual festival of the School of Business Design. It is the culmination of the entire teaching-learning experience that a student undergoes during the 2 Year PGDM program. The fair will be an opportunity for the students to showcase their learnings, reflections, and their impact on the Manesar community through various project work, and real life implementation, design prototypes etc.,

What is an innovation festival?

After learning how to empathize with stakeholders and understand their needs, student teams will identify and define a pressing challenge faced by the community around the campus

They will then prepare Empathy Maps (to identify the deepest of causes, feelings of the stakeholders) and brainstorm ideas to address the defined problem

The teams will select the best ideas and convert them into prototypes for products or services to address the needs of the stakeholdersThe prototypes will be piloted and undergo detailed critique by all the stakeholders

Finally, the teams will prepare an implementation plan along with the partner community to continue the work of scaling up these ideas to ensure sustainability

The School will also invite community stakeholders to present their learning and intentions to build upon the work done by students through an Innovation FAIR (Festival of Appreciative Inquiry and Rejoicing) spread over three days.
