    • Where The Focus At?

    • ROI?
    • Picking The Brains of Experts @ SOIL
What is The Relevance of a One-Year MBA Program?

While the traditional and the 2-year MBA is used by fresh graduates and freshers with minimum work experience, as a ticket to a job, the one-year MBA by the SOIL Institute of Management is designed for professionals with a fair amount of experience (at least 2 years) to upskill and gain eligibility for better roles with more responsibilities.

The one-year MBA is best suited for experienced professionals who have a basic foundation that is required to do an MBA, besides having a certain level of maturity. The program builds on your experience, equipping you with the necessary skills to become a successful leader!

Focus of The One-Year MBA by The Top B-school in India

    • Having a diverse cohort, students from various backgrounds – arts, economics, engineering, etc., and have little or no knowledge about the other subjects besides their own. The one-year MBA program helps them come to the same platform by beginning with the core subjects providing the students with multidimensional exposure, before introducing them to the specializations.

Since the job market today relies solely on your skillset, the specializations also focus on building/ honing your skills. The electives that a candidate opts for should be in alignment with his career aspirations – if they wants to work in startups, introduction to Fintech, MNE, along Big-Data mining kind of courses would be ideal.

    • Secondly, SOIL’s one-year MBA program works on your personality. They prepare you for leadership roles and the next journey of your career. The CMS team at the top B-school in Delhi NCR prepares you for a change in function, change in jobs, or even giving a boost to your career.
    • The third aspect that SOIL focuses on is social innovation programs. It is not just about academics in today’s day and age, B-schools must ensure that the graduates are not only doing well in their roles and benefiting the company, but also the society as a whole.
A Curriculum by The Industry Experts

SOIL’s one-year program is its flagship program, nearly 13-14 years ago. There is a consortium of 32 companies that came together to create this B-school.

    Intellect
    mahindra
    Hindustan Unilever Limited
    Birla Group
    Dr. Reddy's
    Dabur
    Anand
    ABB
    FLSmidth
    asianpaints
    TVS
    Larsen & Toubro
    gohnson&gohnson
    TATA STEEL
    sas
    infosys
    Aditya Birla Group
    SAP
    Maruti Suzuki
    ICICI Bank
    Schneider
    MAX LIFE INSURANCE
    Kohler
    VE COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
    IHCL

    MAX Healthcare

These top companies have been actively involved in creating the one-year program, and its curriculum since they know what is deemed desirable for the budding future leaders. Whatever the students are studying today might be of little or no relevance next year, hence, this consortium of companies also helps to revise and upgrade the curriculum periodically. Since SOIL is an industry-relevant institute, it has to incorporate all the new industry trends and requirements into the curriculum. Additionally, they are also involved in screening candidates during the admission process. There is always a consortium partner accompanying the panel during the interview process.

    Placements Post The One-Year MBA

SOIL takes a great deal of pride that the students who enter the program, return to the industry with a 2-2.5x if not more, in most cases. It sometimes goes up to 3x too and even beyond. But the B-school delivers true value in terms of ensuring that what the students could have grown to in 5-7 years, they can achieve that level in one year. The roles carry a higher level of responsibility. Most graduates will be titled as manager from day 1, once they get placed.

    Experts Answer Questions

I have a total work experience of 2 years – 1 year in Genpact and 1 year in Accenture. Am I eligible to apply at SOIL for the one-year MBA?

Yes, to be eligible for the one-year MBA, you must fulfill the following criteria.

    • A Completed Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution with at least 50% in graduation.
    • Greater than 60% in 10th & 12th Standard Examinations
    • Minimum 2 years of Prior Work Experience is required.
    • Valid CAT*/NMAT/GMAT/XAT*

Apply here, fill up a form, and give a STAT- a self-discovery personality exam. SOIL has a simulation exercise on the day of the interview, and lastly a personal interview.

Job placement guaranteed or not after completion of the one-year MBA course?

Nothing is served on a platter. What SOIL guarantees its students is to ensure that:

    1. The students develop the right competencies to land their dream job.

    2. The students are provided with the best possible opportunities to get a job – which means top companies, and the best roles.

Nonetheless, yes, SOIL does possess an excellent track record with regard to placing its graduates.

Finally, it is the student who faces the interviewer, hence, it’s the student’s performance in the selection process that counts.

Is communication skills all that SOIL is looking for, for its one-year MBA batch?

Although SOIL Institute of Management does expect the students to have communication skills – written and spoken Eng would be of a certain level. This is because English is the language largely used in the corporate world, hence, as a future leader, you will be required to communicate effectively. This also doesn’t mean that the student will be put through a hard English test. Students are assessed based on psychometric tests i.e. the student’s overall personality. The students are required to write a case, and an essay, however, that is solely to check their thought process.

What is the bare minimum score required in CAT?

SOIL’s one-year MBA admission process has multiple components, and each of these has a certain weightage. So, there is no one particular skill or score that will be considered over the others.

It is a combination of many factors – the application form, academic background, extracurricular activities and the student’s expertise in it, video essay, personal interview, and STAT score – which is what makes a good candidate. SOIL does not believe in judging candidates based solely on a single criterion, which is what makes SOIL – the top B-school in India.

How have the one-year MBA placements been this year – for the graduates specializing in Analytics?

The one-year MBA placement this year (2022-23) has been the best – with the highest average CTC of 12.6 LPA.

    Average Salary Bracket (2023)

    Average Salary Bracket (2020)

Does work experience in your own family business count?

For placement – No. The reason for that is that all the recruiters/ placement partners that come to the campus for hiring, are very insistent on wanting to see formal work experience. So when they advertise about wanting to hire candidates with 2-3 years of work experience, they mean 2-3 years of experience in a formal work environment which means you must have payslips, PF, direct deposit of salary into your accounts, appointment and relieving letters, and other important document need to be in place.

I have 3+ years of sales experience, will pursuing a one-year MBA in HR help me pivot to HR roles, or will companies reject my application?

Coming to having experience in sales means having an extroverted personality, good communication skills, having people skills – so a sales background will always aid you regardless of the role you are getting into, it is always seen as a benefit rather than a hindrance.

What specializations are being offered at SOIL Institute of Management?

SOIL offers a one-year MBA in HR which is a unique program that we have in north India, led by the founder Mr. Anil Sachdeva – who is a leading figure in the HR space.

One-year MBA – PGPM is another program that offers Analytics, Marketing, and Finance as specializations.

Will the classes be held online or offline at SOIL?

They are being held in an in-house, offline mode.

I am working on tech support in a major IT company, can I go for PGPM Analytics?

Definitely! Some of the best placements at SOIL have been in the Analytics stream, for graduates from IT and technology-related backgrounds.

I have 4 years of experience in software development, however, I’m not sure about choosing a particular MBA course.

This is the most common profile that we get for SOIL’s one-year MBA – professionals who have worked in the IT/software sector for 3-6 years and are looking for higher roles, either within the same industry or in another. So, you could look at specializing in data science, marketing, and analytics.

What is the higher side of work experience accepted at SOIL for its one-year MBA program? Will a candidate with 10 years of experience be eligible?

Yes, however, most of the companies visiting the SOIL campus are looking for candidates with 2.5-6 years of prior experience. Despite this, graduates with 8-9 years of experience also got placed with remarkable CTCs, in the last 2-3 years. So, in a nutshell, while there may not be as many opportunities, there will be an adequate number of opportunities for you to choose from.

Will a BBA graduate find it difficult to learn business analytics?

No, it depends solely on the candidate/ student’s will to learn, their learning ability, and the aptitude to pick up concepts. Yes, there are numerous technicalities in Analytics – programming languages like R, Python, C, C++, Java, and there are depiction platforms like Tableau that the student has to learn. So, as long as the students are willing to learn, the institute sees no issue with a BBA graduate specializing in Analytics.

Tech languages in Analytics are quite vast. Condescending it in a one-year MBA program, will we be able to get a hold of these?

Sure, SOIL has world-class faculty. The programs that it has for both R and Python are for approx 20-25 hours, and within those hours, the faculty can get the students to a level where they can communicate intelligently on those platforms. The students will not become experts overnight, however, they will gain enough information to be able to build the basic data models required in data analytics/business analytics.

Why has the one-year MBA at SOIL still not received the AICTE approval? What’s stopping SOIL from getting it since the 2-year program already has it?

SOIL Institute of Management is supported by 32 consortium companies, and that is deemed more important than AICTE approval as it gives them the freedom to mold their curriculum as per the industry standards and bring a program at par with what it should be with global standards.

SOIL has not applied for an AICTE approval as they have not felt the need for it.

Does SOIL have any lowest placement mark?

Yes, 7 LPA has been the lowest over the past few years, this year we will push it up to 8LPA as the lowest.

What is the fee structure at SOIL excluding the scholarships?

It is roughly 15 lakhs, including GST.

    Does SOIL provide scholarships?

SOIL is dedicated to making its programs accessible to the most promising future leaders. To support this, we’ve set aside scholarships totaling 2 crores (for all SOIL programs), detailed below:
